In Walsall there are many different childcare options available for you and your child. including:

  • Childminders

  • Day nurseries

  • Out of school clubs

  • Holiday play schemes

  • Crèches

  • Playgroups.

Childcare can help if you want to work, study or just need time to do other things.

 

Who is eligible for Time 2 Start (2-year old funding)? 

Your child might be eligible for 15 hours funded early learning/ childcare if you get one of the following benefits: 

  • Income Support 

  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) 

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) 

  • Universal Credit, and your household income is £15,400 a year or less after tax, not including benefit payments. 

  • Tax credits, and your household income is £16,190 a year or less before tax. 

  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit.

  • The Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit).

2-year-olds can also get funded childcare if they: 

  • Are looked after by a local authority.

  • Have left care under an adoption order, special guardianship order or a child arrangement order.

Non- UK citizens who cannot claim benefits 

If your immigration status says you have ‘no recourse to public funds,’ you may still get free childcare for your 2 year old. You must live in England and your household income must be no more than: 

  • £26,500 for families with one child 

  • £30,600 for families with two or more children 

  • You cannot have more than £16,000 in savings or investments.

Who is eligible for Early Education Funding (3 & 4-year-olds)? 

All children are entitled to up to 15 hours of funded early learning/ childcare which is a total of 570 hours per year of from the term after their 3rd birthday.  

This nursery provision continues until the child goes to full time school. A free early education place can be accessed in school nursery classes, maintained school nurseries, independent schools, day nurseries, pre-schools and with registered childminders. Childcare providers must be registered with Ofsted and Walsall Council to offer funded places. You do not need a code for 15 hours funded childcare. 

30 hours Childcare for Working Parents
